QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care is desired.

To deliver a high-quality care, under the supervision of the Senior on duty or Manager, in an efficient, caring, kind and respectful manner and whilst preserving the dignity and self-respect of the resident at all times

  • To ensure at all times, in conjunction with other members of staff, that the physical, emotional and social well-being of the residents is maintained according to his or her person-centred care plan. This includes enabling people to engage with others or to use local community facilities and helping new residents to settle in or supporting each person with dementia to communicate feelings, experiences and needs.
  • To administer medication to residents in accordance with Medication Policy. To audit MAR charts and assist in the ordering, receiving and checking of medications that enter the Home.
  • To write, review and update person-centred care plans and other records in an individuals file in accordance with their person centred care plan, such as behaviour charts, food and fluid charts, personal hygiene charts, health professional visits, daily register, daily notes etc.
  • To take part in handovers from the previous senior and to handover to the next senior on duty, fully communicating all changes or significant events of each and every resident.
  • To complete the Daily Work Sheet at the beginning of the shift and delegate relevant duties to all staff to ensure the smooth running and fair allocation of work load to all staff.
  • To promote team morale and encourage all staff to maintain a high standard of care.
  • To cover the shifts of staff who are sick or absent.
