Online Learning Trainer

Plans and coordinates learning center activities to support instructional programs and provide tutorial services to job seekers. Works directly with subject matter experts and job seekers. Assist with planning and coordinating job seeker learning programs.

Manages the operations of a learning center that holds 20+ computers that provide access to various software applications and content (e.g., Kenexa ProveIt, Metrix, GCF Learn Free, etc) on site. Establishes, maintains and promotes a classroom atmosphere which ensures the emotional and physical safety of clients and emphasizes mutual respect, self-worth, self-discipline, cooperation, consideration and responsibility.

  • Monitors daily activities of the Learning Center to ensure a smooth flow of operations.
  • Serves as a client advocate to provide direction and support by creating and monitoring processes that will ensure client success in the online environment.
  • Works with the site’s training team to coordinate any testing that is mandated by the course or by the program (following up with ordering, scheduling and in some cases administering tests)
  • Provides an orientation for all first-time visitors so that they understand the expectations of behavior and activity in the center
  • Takes responsibility to assist clients who are receiving instruction in the center as part of their training
  • Serves as liaison for the client in dealing with concerns and issues about courses and/or technology related challenges

Skills and Competencies:

  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Over 5 years of training experience in an adult environment
  • Experience in Career Services and Recruiting considered extremely valuable
  • Skillfully operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, overhead projectors, and data projectors
  • Computer must be your friend and you must be a friend to computers
  • Listen and communicate effectively in order to gather, convey or exchange information, including giving instructions, assignments or directions
  • Respond appropriately to inquires or complaints
  • Use tact and courtesy when working and dealing with all who enter and utilize the center
  • Write using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
  • Speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
  • Interpret and carry out oral and/or written instructions
  • Deal fairly with people beyond giving and receiving instructions
  • Perform under stress, deal with persons acting under stress and displaying emotional distress and adapt when confronted with emergency situations
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Detailed knowledge of TANF system preferred.
