CRS CraneSystems Inc. was founded in 1991 as an overhead bridge crane service company and has since evolved into a market leading full service crane manufacturer with an extensive maintenance service and parts business, a diversified customer base, and ISO 9001 certification. Customers of CRS operate in industry sectors such as oil and gas, mining, power generation, manufacturing, forestry, pulp, paper, steel, light metals, and cement. In addition to selling cranes directly to end-users, CRS works with some of the world’s largest engineering and construction management companies, and attributes its growth and success to its reputation for providing only the highest quality of work and on time delivery.

CRS operates out of a 26 000 square foot facility in Sherwood Park, Alberta, with additional sales and service branches located in Calgary, Alberta; Surrey, British Columbia; and Mississauga, Ontario. CRS currently employs over 60 highly skilled staff, included 25 certified service technicians.

Business Development Representative New Equipment

Your mission as a business development representative is to build upon an existing network of end users, contractors and engineers, maintaining established relationships, while developing new relationships through face to face meetings. You will need an inquisitive mind as a major part of the role is to find early stage projects to position CRS CraneSystems as a preferred supplier. Your networking ability will lead you to success in this role.

Your territory will cover British Columbia, Washington state, and Alaska. Expect to travel 25% of the time to major centers and additional travel for specific projects on occasion. Typical hours of work are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The right candidate will be based out of the Surrey, British Columbia office.

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new product and service opportunities within assigned territory
  • Complete project and product inquiries to ensure accuracy in new equipment estimating
  • Develop and demonstrate expert product knowledge and promote a full range of products and services to new and existing customers
  • Communicate market intelligence to team by way of providing market feedback in weekly meetings and making informed business and proposal development recommendations
  • Prepare and conduct lunch and learn presentations to contractors and engineers
  • Assist team in keeping the sales funnel full and reaching sales targets
  • Utilize CRM database to track projects, opportunities, and develop reports
  • Demonstrate professional communication skills in person and over the telephone and conduct quality calls to access project delivery performance and follow up on the status of new opportunities and projects
  • Occasional trip and travel planning for specific projects

  • Must possess valid class 5 driver’s license and passport
  • Must have your own vehicle (late model)
  • Proficient computer skills, including use of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Past experience in sales or marketing preferable
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and building plans
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills


CRS provides a base salary with a variable pay plan for achieving quarterly goals and on target earnings of $ 69 000.00 for the first year of employment, following with a base salary and commission plan second year onward. Additionally, CRS provides ample benefits such as extended health, medical and dental, company profit share, car allowance, and mileage reimbursement.
