Product Development Manager

The Product Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing product design, development and documentation of all products, reporting to the Director of Marketing. Position is located in (Williamsburg) Toano, VA or (Buffalo) Tonawanda, NY regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, development and execution of new products for all categories to include:

o Brainstorming new product ideas with sales and marketing on a quarterly basis to keep product lines fresh and on-trend

o Communicating with operations the product specifications of proposed new product.

o Monitoring, tracking and organizing all proposed new product samples

o Approving all production runs of new products according to predetermined specifications

o Accurately communicating item set up requirements and all related documents; communicate to procurement, quality department, operations marketing and sales

  • Creative, out-of-the-box approach to developing new items across all product lines, while relying on industry trends, category data and customer requests/feedback.
  • Work to ensure product specifications are accurate and up-to-date then communicate to procurement, quality department, marketing and sales of changes.
  • Ensures that labeling and marketing/promotional literature match product specifications.
  • In conjunction with marketing team, understand competitive marketplace for candy and confection industry.
  • Fill sizing/weight of the items
  • Complete P&L to obtain finished cost and calculate a selling price from formula
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned from the Director of Marketing.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, R&D or related field required
  • At least 5 years of experience in product development, marketing or product management for a food company.
