This position is available immediately. Full-time, 32.5 Hours/Week, M-F, Days, Benefits (Medical, Vacation, Sick, 403(b) Retirement).

The CCTP Instructor provides direct support and community-based instruction for individuals with developmental disabilities in the areas of academic skills, advocacy, appropriate behavior, communication, community integration, computer training, cultural events, education, health and safety preparation, independent living skills, job skills, mobility, outdoor experiences, personal care training, self-advocacy, recreation, social skills, supported employment, travel training, vocational training, volunteer jobs, internships, and other designated skills.

- Requires frequent driving and flexibility in site assignment , as job duties are to be carried out at the college, in the community, and in the office.

- Requires driving clients in personal vehicle on regular field trips to provide services and occasional driving of company vehicle.

- Assists with and provides training in class registration, accessing campus resources, understanding school assignments, and locating informational/instructional program materials.

- Accesses various reference centers, including the media center, the library, and the internet, to locate informational/instructional program materials.

- Provides instruction and training in a variety of job preparation skills, such as navigating employment resources, organization, planning, time management, understanding of assignments, and employer expectations.

- Acts as an advocate to promote and protect the rights of participants; Ensures individuals are treated with dignity and respect; Supports participants in advocacy and self-advocacy actions.

- Provides opportunities for participants to choose, practice, learn, demonstrate, and experience independent action in the program and in the community.

- Researches community activities, events, and destinations, determining accessibility and practicality, planning trips to desired locations, and arranging/accessing transportation, and attends outings with clients during school breaks.

- Trains and oversees clients in travel training and transportation skills.

- Assists with documentation and maintenance of clients’ permanent files, client database and records, and client personal, program, and emergency information.

Special Requirements : Ability to pass LiveScan fingerprinting, health screening, and TB test; Reliable transportation, valid CA DL, auto insurance, and clean DMV; Ability/willingness to drive participants in personal vehicle to provide services, and to drive personal vehicle to other sites, to substitute, and to run errands, as needed, and to drive agency vehicles to provide services.

Physical stamina and ability to fulfill job responsibilities; Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in job assignments, personnel, individuals served, environment, and procedures; Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines; Excellent interpersonal skills, including discretion, tact and judgment, as well as effective written and oral communication skills.
