Our company is looking for an outgoing and energetic individual with a passion for healthy living, and a desire to provide the highest level of customer service. Previous knowledge of produce in a retail environment is highly desired.

SUMMARY: The Produce Associate is responsible for assisting customers in the produce department. The employee will help customer find requested produce items and answering questions. The associate prepares items for display, ensures display cases are adequately stocked and ensures freshness of produce. The employee will handle produce in a safe manner and ensure that the department is always clean and neat and that the area in the produce department is free of debris.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service.
  • Help educate customers about our products and our store philosophy.
  • Perform opening store activities as needed.
  • May assist in ordering produce as needed and/or instructed.
  • Assist in managing a tight back-sock, keeping area neat, clean and organized, and in accordance with all health department guidelines.
  • Mark down products about to expire.
  • Unload all dairy orders and stock shelves as needed.
  • Coordinate with Demo personnel to ensure adequate supply of products on shelves for demo days.
  • Attend mandatory monthly store meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a retail environment with merchandise displays and items available for purchase in inventory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Standard days and hours are Monday through Sunday, typically between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position could require working weekend and holiday hours.

TRAVEL: Local travel may be required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of or grocery experience. Knowledge of natural and organic foods preferred. A liquor license is required to be obtained within 30 days of employment at stores in applicable regions

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an employee should have a working knowledge of Microsoft office and internet usage. POS knowledge highly desirable.
