Leads, plans, organizes, and directs the financial and fiscal management aspects of the organization. Working closely with the CEO, plans, organizes, and directs the financial and fiscal management aspects of the institution in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and all relevant regulatory/governmental agencies within the education industry. Works collaboratively with CEO on planning, budgeting and monthly/year-end financial reporting. Provides leadership in the development, interpretation, coordination, and administration of the policies and procedures on finance, accounting, tax planning, internal controls, and auditing. Directs the organization’s financial planning, accounting, budgeting and forecasting as well as establishing/maintaining relationships with lending institutions and financial communities by performing the essential functions and responsibilities personally or through subordinate managers. Develops standards, policies, and procedures for all financial related operations and ensures efficiency and cost effective resource utilization in all functions under charge. Supports Board, Audit, and Finance Committees.
JOB REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: Master’s degree in accounting, finance, banking or business administration required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior level position with appropriate/equivalent industry experience and operating budget of $5M to 20M at a corporate/divisional level or above. A minimum of five years’ overall experience in accounting/financial management with increasing responsibilities. Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in for-profit setting, internal accounting controls, taxation, investment, and treasury functions. Experience with contract laws, negotiation and change management. Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems, and education/student accounting systems. Knowledge of risk management and insurance, purchasing and materials management.Knowledge of education/governmental compliance and regulatory standards such as Title IV, and accreditation standards. Knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems to supply the most accurate financial information.
