Creative Director/Experiential & Event Ideator

Henry V - the Northwest's leading live event marketing agency - seeks to add a creative idea generator to its winning team. We are looking for someone who has a broad base of knowledge about PR, marketing, technology, and a good sense of experiential marketing; while understanding the potential business benefits of combining these disciplines in the live event medium. We want someone who stays current on the latest trends and can quickly determine how best to leverage these trends into creative event ideas. We want someone who can maximize return on investment (ROI) for clients because we want to make our events fun as hell and maximize our clients’ budget. Ideas, creativity and a positive can-do attitude are more important than deep experience in any one discipline.

This position will report to the Managing Director – Sales. You will be responsible for translating client needs and goals into engaging and motivating event experience ideas. Sometimes you’ll work independently, other times you’ll lead idea-storming sessions or support on a team level. You will assist Account Managers in client pitches. Winning ideas selected by our clients will be brought to life under your creative direction/collaboration by our various event execution departments (production, art, content, logistics, staging, video, IT). From time to time this role may also be hands on assisting the event delivery teams with content writing/editing, art proofing, Powerpoint work, vendor sourcing, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or career experience equivalent, in a creative or engineering discipline
  • Previous project management experience
  • 5+ years experience in a role requiring creativity
  • 3+ years agency experience

MINIMUM SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE:

  • Beginner abilities with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
  • Intermediate abilities with Maya or an equivalent rendering system
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint , Excel, Word).
  • Experience with Keynote is a plus.

  • Route and follow up to ensure timely feedback on designs/copy/mechanicals for internal and client approvals
  • Prioritize tasks with appropriate parties and work closely with the Account and Production Teams to make sure all deadlines are met.
  • Assemble client proposals.
  • Create storyboards.
  • Complete tasks on time or notify appropriate person with alternate action plan(s).
  • Commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals, this may mean evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing to travel to events throughout the year as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Salary range for this position DOE, with two weeks paid vacation, eight paid holiday days; paid sick time; 100% employer-paid health, dental, vision, disability and term-life policy premiums for employee; insurance benefits available for dependents which is paid by employee through pre-tax 125 cafeteria plan; FSA or HSA plans available for employee-paid co-pays/deductibles or dependent care expenses; 401k plan with employer match program; gated employee parking; company-paid cell phone with (limited) data plan; occasional company-paid outings.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires:

  • Ability to sit and use a computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Able to travel nationally and internationally with out of town stays
  • Able to visually ID client branding specs
  • Able to proofread documents for proper spelling and grammar
  • Ability to proof copy and graphics for spelling, grammar, punctuation, color, and design element version compliance
  • Ability to use paper production tools such as paper cutter, stencil knives, GBC binding equipment, etc. with professional quality results
  • Driver’s license with driving record acceptable to our insurance company or other acceptable transportation capability for pickup/drop-off of files, supplies, or finished products at local vendors
  • Ability to occasionally lift small boxes weighing up to 30 pounds from floor to counter height (e.g. case of paper)
