Purpose: To drive top line revenues through direct sales efforts.

Scope: Within the limits of corporate policies and approved budgets and in line with Roedel Companies management philosophy, the Sales Manager of Hotel Saranac has the responsibility to meet or exceed the performance standard objectives of each key result area. This position is responsible to foster productive relationships with clients to ensure repeat business.

Location: Hotel Saranac, Saranac Lake, NY

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities are listed below:

  • Direct sales (by meeting with clients), making sales calls, and prospecting for new business.
  • Proactively develop and manage accounts using the established process for identifying, soliciting, and closing on new business to ensure weekly, monthly and annual targets are achieved.
  • Be proficient in the sales process, the revenue management systems and all technical systems to track and monitor account performance.
  • Execute the Operations aspect of business booked, generating proposals, submission of RFP’s, writing contracts, customer correspondence, review of BEO’s generated from arrival to completion of contracted business.
  • Sell and implement Group and Catering promotions, as well as promotions for the retail store, restaurant, and spa outlets.
  • Exceed the Group and Catering revenue targets for the hotel by month and year to date.
  • Follow established sales procedures; which ensure maximum efficiency for your team, and which minimize duplication of efforts.
  • Ensure that all information in the system is accurate so as to facilitate the DOS’s generation of the budgets and ability to track progress through monthly reporting on the Marketing Plan for the year.
  • Assist in developing a key account and marketing program and implement all components of the plan to maximize the performance of the hotel.
  • Find avenues of additional revenue streams, and develop them into sellable formats.

Qualifications and Skills

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years working in sales at a Full-Service Hotel
  • Possess a strong background in Food and Beverage and Banquets/ Catering; and provide backup references of sales success.
  • The ability to perform each job responsibility in a satisfactory and timely manner.
  • Must have a verifiable record of strong community active involvement and thorough knowledge of the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Market, its critical market drivers, assets and challenges.
  • Ability to speak fluidly about food & beverage items, menu themes and creative solutions for corporate meetings, social events and weddings.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for sales calls, events and training.

Computer Skills:

  • Typing skills*
  • Windows XP or newer, Work, Excel and Outlook* *
  • Working knowledge and use of Delphi, FDC or other Sales & Catering System*
  • Working knowledge and use of OnQ PMS or other hotel PMS system
