Shop Project Manager Summary:

The primary job of the Shop Project Manager is planning, executing and managing all aspects of projects for safety, schedule, quality, contract documents and budget adherence with the client’s corporate contact. Must be able to handle multiple projects in various industries simultaneously, utilizing Fabsuite and Navision. Primary objective is to safely deliver project product from startup to completion on time, within scope and cost while maintaining positive customer relations.

Essential Functions:

 Proficiency in API or ASME or AISC.

 Company Safety Policies to help ensure they are followed.

 Liaise with resource/department managers and support personnel to enable project completion to time, cost, scope and quality delivering project on time and under budget.

 Act as a focal point of contact for the client, ensuring that the client expectations are managed proactively, diplomatically and constructively and that clients and management are kept informed and aware of the project status throughout.

 Utilize the PM Manual to manage information, communication and activity relating to the scope of supply.

 Utilize project management tools such as PCO logs, schedule reports, etc. to ensure proper communication and documentation.

 Proactively maintain positive communication between client and management ensuring all are kept fully informed.

 Make frequent shop visits to view/inspect projects.

 Coordinate with Field PM’s to ensure projects are meeting the client’s corporate contacts expectations on safety, quality, schedule and budget.

 Attend Production Meetings prepared to address project status.

 Prepare weekly/and monthly reports for management.

 Prepare monthly invoicing including coordinating with the field PM to capture all invoicing on one SOV.

 Manage RFIs and COs to ensure time and cost impacts are documented and communicated to client in timely manner. Maintain logs for both and coordinate with Field PM to ensure their CO and RFI’s are logged and reviewed.

 Communicate and manage subcontractors when applicable to ensure compliance of sub scope and a main point of contact. Inform management of issues while working with other departments to ensure sub meets or exceeds policies.

 Proactive in thinking and actions.

 Notify management if there are potential impacts to budget/schedule.

 Provide timely reports to management as requested and scheduled.

For day to day operations this position will report to the Senior Project Manager while working closely with the EHS Directors, Detailing Manager, Shop Superintendents, VP of Technical Services, QA/QC Managers, Field PMs and Logistics Manager.

Technical Competency & Development

Must be able to understand drawings and the appropriate codes, standards and specifications.

Candidates to have previous project management experience/training as well as a background in fabrication/construction/engineering

PMP trained/certified preferred.

Actively participate in continuous improvement of the company, department, personnel and self.

Ensure personal, professional and technical competency through continuing professional development.

Formulate and manage own personal training plan and development activity with the Senior Project Manager.

Carry out, as instructed, any task as deemed reasonable by a member of upper management in the interest of the Company and other assigned duties as required.


Display a professional and acceptable attitude and image for all work associated with and undertaken by the company.
