Administration and Bookkeeping - Summer Student Position

This position is open to students that have been registered as a full time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full time basis in the next academic year;

The Administration and Bookkeeping Summer Student will work with the CFO and management team to create and analyze filing and reporting systems and handle the organizational aspects of the business. This position requires someone who is excellent at multi-tasking in a fast paced environment and is able to adjust quickly. They must have excellent interpersonal skills and above average communication skills both written and oral.

  • Create and maintain accurate, organized company files (paper & e-files)
  • Bookkeeping related data entry, creation and maintenance of spreadsheets and reports.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge (Windows environment - Excel and Word)
  • Accounts receivable and payable support.
  • Prepare and format letters, memos and contracts
  • Compile data for reports, creating presentations, writing reports, editing, proofreading and other information preparation duties
  • General assistance to the business owners as required; errands, etc.

Who we are:

The Flamingo is a series of 3 event venues and a liquor store on one site located in the heart of Whalley close to the Gateway Village Skytrain.

The Flamingo is now being managed by a national arts charity known as the Penmar Community Arts Society, an organization that fosters the development of live music and the arts in communities outside major metropolitan centers.

Our task - to make Whalley cool, friendly and fun for the diverse community that surrounds it.

We are hiring Summer Students to help us develop and grow the profile and business programs of the Flamingo.

Who is eligible:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria under the Canada Summer Jobs Program:

  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years at the start of employment;
  • Have been registered as a full time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full time basis in the next academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
