Social Media Coordinator - Summer Student Position

The Social Media Summer Student will be responsible for coordinating and executing the organization’s social media strategy across several channels including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This intern will develop content calendars on monthly and weekly basis as well as planning for social media activity during individual events. The intern will be responsible for researching and identifying additional channels that are appropriate for reaching our target audiences.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team to develop social media campaigns and strategies
  • Establish social media channels for all of our brands
  • Research and implement new channels such as Snapchat and develop campaigns for events
  • Develop original content.
  • Suggest creative ways to attract more followers to each of our brands
  • Actively engage followers through dialogue in an effort to transform visitors into brand ambassadors
  • Provide analysis and reporting on audience information and demographics
  • Provide analysis and review of the success of social media campaigns

Who we are:

The Flamingo is a series of 3 event venues and a liquor store on one site located in the heart of Whalley close to the Gateway Village Skytrain.

The Flamingo is now being managed by a national arts charity known as the Penmar Community Arts Society, an organization that fosters the development of live music and the arts in communities outside major metropolitan centers.

Our task - to make Whalley cool, friendly and fun for the diverse community that surrounds it.

We are hiring Summer Students to help us develop and grow the profile and business programs of the Flamingo.

Who is eligible:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria under the Canada Summer Jobs Program:

  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years at the start of employment;
  • Have been registered as a full time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full time basis in the next academic year;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

Must be 19+ , were registered as a full time student last year and intend to return to school full time in the fall.

$15/hour 30 hours/week 6 week position
