Job Type
Full-time

Role Description

The Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze and test flight mechanical assemblies, with specific focus on the propellant management unit and fluid and thermal subassemblies. The design will focus on CAD software to layout complex assemblies including propellant storage systems, flow regulation systems, propellant phase transducer systems, mechanical interfaces with satellites, and PCB assemblies. Analyses will include software-based thermal and vibrational modeling to ensure mechanical flight assemblies will survive the spacecraft launch and on-orbit operational environments. Further analyses will include studies of propellant phase states and changes at different points in pressurized fuel storage systems. The ME will select materials and manufacturing practices for all parts designed. The mechanical engineer will also aid in flight qualification and acceptance testing of the designed assemblies, as well as part releases and design reviews. The ideal candidate will also have had experience performing complex mechanical designs utilizing the latest in metal 3D printing technology.
