PGI is seeking an experienced security consultant to contribute and grow their existing capabilities. This role will primarily be based in the Bristol office , with some travel to client site as required. This multi-purpose role will require working within a close-knit team to help build PGI as a global leader in cyber security, primarily within the penetration testing domain.
The candidate will be required to have an open-mind and a proactive approach towards helping PGI develop innovative solutions to challenge existing security testing services and tools to provide ever more cost-effective and appropriate solutions to a global market base.
Candidates will have a complete understanding of the penetration testing cycle. A major function of this role includes significant business development work such as scoping penetration testing projects, meeting customers, customer management and competitor analysis. They will be expected to contribute to the writing of proposals and bids as well as pricing of projects and responses to Invitations to Tender (ITT) that will need a basic understanding of commercial activity and concepts such as revenue, costs and profit margins.
The candidate will have a familiarity with defensive operations at a level that allows them to work with new entrants to the profession. This may include providing mentoring, simulated attacks for the purpose of SOC development / proof of Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and delivery of theoretical concepts. Supporting knowledge of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), malware analysis (static, dynamic, debugging & disassembly) and network traffic analysis is desirable.
The candidate will be required to project manage business development and revenue generation work delivered by groups of specialists and to frequently lead small technical teams in addition to working independently; experience of mentoring or developing other CHECK Team Member’s skillsets would be beneficial in this role, with a technical development focus.
This role will facilitate opportunities to gain experience through working with the multitude of other security disciplines within PGI, including but not limited to: PCI-DSS, Protective Monitoring, Incident Response, Software Engineering, ISO27001, Reverse Engineering, Cyber Threat Reporting, and Training.
This role requires a good understanding of how traditional security operation centres and test teams function and extensive use of multiple vendor’s open-source protective monitoring, penetration testing, code review and exploitation tools as well as the ability to learn the use of new tools in response to customer requirements.
Travel will be an expectation of the candidate in this role, when required, often internationally and for a predetermined period of time. Cyber training, engineering services, penetration testing and incident response represents a major strand of PGI’s growth in cyber security services.
All PGI consulting staff are required to deliver training within PGI Cyber Academy’s course offerings. This includes design, delivery and development of commercial training products. The individual will be expected to deliver the applicable technical and managerial courses within the portfolio.
The Security Consultant and trainer will be a key integral member of the operational team, sharing information, experience and knowledge to the benefit of all components of PGI’s cyber security mission. The candidate must also have extremely good interpersonal skills to be able to develop coherence and buy-in across staff. PGI’s growth will be fast; it is imperative that the candidate can work largely unsupervised, is heavily outcome and objective focused and can adopt a ‘sleeves rolled up’ approach. Quality, and the delivery of capability on time is of the highest priority.
