Systems Engineer - Autonomous Ships & Perception

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for specifying and integrating marine autonomy systems, and will be a key role in real-world at-sea technology trials.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for developing and optimizing our development platform
  • Establish processes to manage the development, testing, system integration and interface to existing customer platforms
  • Manage progress reports & general development documentation
  • Manage a high-level scope & architecture that includes schematics of control consoles, remote I/O enclosures, cabling, propulsion and helm control, sensor interconnect, system diagrams, programming, component configuration, technical manuals and test procedures.
  • Document and communicate bugs & problems encountered during testing & trials
  • Work cross-functionally with technical teams developing autonomy, communications, perception, system interfaces and hardware to execute functional testing, system integration verification and performance validation on new products in automated simulation and in vessel trials.
  • Participate in daily team stand-ups and quality reviews.
  • Develop collaborative relationships and work closely with suppliers, engineering, operations, sales team and customers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience in creating, integrating, and implementing complex architectures in the fields of automation, robotics, or vision systems
  • Degree in in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering. M.S. preferred.
  • Prior project engineering experience with large scale system integration programs.
  • Expertise with at least some digital perception, awareness, and measurement instruments such as LiDAR, cameras, gps, imu, radar
  • Proficiency with electrical/electronics hardware & software(C#, C++)
  • Excellent analytical and program solving skills, excellent written and oral communication, self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Proficient in English & German languages
  • Eligible to work in Germany
