Environmental Engineer

A Somat Project Engineer has the responsibility for coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. This individual will plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate assigned phases of the engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, and accepted engineering practices and standards; and ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all engineering disciplines and all other project participants.

Required project experience includes:

  • Innocent Land Owner defense-due diligence and due care
  • Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)
  • Baseline Environmental Site Assessment (BEA)
  • Documentation for Due Care and Compliance (DDCC)
  • Brownfield Sites
  • Remediation of soil and ground water
  • Design of treatment processes in soil, water and solids
  • Preparation of Technical Reports, Project Specification and Operation and Maintenance manuals
  • Construction oversight and documentation
  • Decontamination and demolition
  • Leaking Underground Storage Tanks (LUST) removal, remediation and closure
  • Contaminated sites cleanup and closure of sites under various Exposure Pathways and uses of Sites after remediation per RBCA or applicable State rules
  • Technical and Regulatory fluency related to laws, regulation and environmental industry practices in assessing and remediating for Closure for State and local agencies and commercial sites and clients

The following additional experience is desirable:

  • Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) and Ultra Violet Optical Screening Tool (UVOST), 3-D modeling based on UVOST data, Electrical Conductivity measurements
  • Operation and maintenance of Treatment Facilities
  • Design and planning for waste to energy facilities such as use of methane gas from refuse landfills or producing/enhancing methane gas from bio digesters and using methane as fuel in generators to produce electricity
  • Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPP), QA/QC, Health and Safety Plans (HASP) for projects and for company
  • Assessment and Abatement of asbestos, lead, PCB and mold
  • Working knowledge of regulatory agencies, project managers
  • Excellent written and verbal skills related to communication and technical documentation
  • Experience with industrial facilities and clients
