English Instructor (Tues & Thurs Mornings)

Vatterott College has an upcoming opening for an English Instructor to teach Rhetoric and Composition. This part-time on-ground position is responsible for the delivery of course content to enrolled students in the classroom . This is not an on-line position.

***Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM-10:00 AM. Classes begin the week of September 9th and run for 10 weeks.***

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching college-level English classes.
  • Preparing class syllabus, outline and daily lesson plans as required. Providing course syllabus and outline to students on the first day of class.
  • Maintaining and ensuring consistency between the course catalog and the daily lesson plans.
  • Preparing and administering examinations, student projects, and other teaching aids needed to fulfill objectives of the program.
  • Setting up classroom, lab, equipment, projects, assignments, etc. in preparation for each new phase or class start.
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance, grades, progress of students, and reporting the same in a timely manner to manager.
  • Maintaining a clean, effective, and professional learning environment.
  • Attending all scheduled in-service activities, meetings, and completing all scheduled/assigned activities in support of the individual faculty development plan.
  • Communicating budget needs to Campus Management on a timely basis.
  • Tutoring and conducting conferences with students.
  • Maintaining discipline and enforcing school rules and regulations.
  • Assisting with library research needs, information gathering and making textbooks recommendations.
  • Participating in committees, graduation ceremonies and other school events.

KNOWLEDGE AND BACKGROUND:

  • This position requires a Master’s Degree in English and 15 credit hours in the area of English.
  • The position also requires personal computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, and Outlook), excellent spelling and grammar skills, and the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful and concise manner.
